Head Of Central Jakarta Religious Court: Divorce Cases Increase Since August 2021, Economics And Infidelity Are The Most

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Religious Court recorded 1.068 divorce cases from January to August 2021.

Head of the Central Jakarta Religious Court, Muslikin, said that divorce in Central Jakarta occurred for several reasons. Starting from economic factors, domestic violence (KDRT) to adultery.

"Divorce due to constant disputes and quarrels has 554 cases, economic factors have 292 cases and 164 cases have left one of the parties," he said when contacted by reporters, Friday, October 1.

In addition, there are 22 cases of divorce due to domestic violence (KDRT) and 15 cases of divorce due to imprisonment.

"There are 2 cases of polygamy divorce, 2 cases of apostasy, 6 cases of gambling, 7 cases of addiction, 2 cases of drunkenness, and 2 cases of divorce due to adultery," he said.

The number of divorce cases in Central Jakarta experienced an increase in complaints in August 2021. The highest number of divorce cases was in August with 159 cases.

"In January 2021, there were 155 cases, in February there were 138 cases, in March there were 147 cases, in April there were 145 cases, in May there were 117 cases, in June there were 122 cases, in July there were 88 cases and August there were 159 cases," explained Muslikin.

Muslikin confirmed that the number of divorce cases from January 2021 to August 2021 varied.

"Divorce cases in the current pandemic tend to decrease when compared to last year," he said.

He also said that the Central Jakarta Religious Court was not only dealing with divorce cases. However, a lot of handling is done in the Religious Courts.

"Such as problems of joint property, children, polygamy, we handle, we also deal with issues of wills, endowments, grants, zakat, infaq," he said.
