Heavy Wind Rain, 3 Houses And 1 School In Meulaboh West Aceh Severely Damaged

ACEH BARAT - As many as 3 houses and a school in Meulaboh, the capital city of West Aceh Regency, were damaged by strong winds on Friday, October 1 this morning at around 07.00 a.m. local time.

"There were no casualties in this disaster, but the damage caused by the storm was very severe," said West Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) Coordinator Mashuri as quoted by Antara, Friday afternoon.

There were also residents who experienced disasters due to the brunt of the storm, respectively Nurjali (60 years) who lived with 3 family members, Yusri (42 years) with five people, and Halimatun Sa'diah (30 years) with three souls.

Affected people were forced to flee to the homes of neighbors or relatives. Residents' houses cannot be occupied for a while because the roof has been blown away by the wind.

In order to help the affected communities, the West Aceh BPBD together with the National Armed Force (TNI) and National Police (Polri) have also gone to the location to help residents who are victims of natural disasters.

Not only residents' houses, said Mashuri, the storm also damaged the roof of an elementary school in Suak Ribee Village, Johan Pahlawan District, Meulaboh, West Aceh.

However, the damage to the school did not hinder the teaching and learning process of the students, because the accident did not cause any damage to other parts of the local school.

He acknowledged that the West Aceh BPBD officers throughout Friday were still trying to help people affected by natural disasters that occurred in the center of the local district capital, he also said.
