Simsalabim! Draft Law on General Provisions and Tax Procedures Completed In A Month, The Fate Of Staple Food Taxes And Cs Is Just A Step Away
JAKARTA - The government is said to have reached an agreement with the House of Representatives regarding the discussion of the Draft Law on General Provisions and Tax Procedures (RUU KUP). This information was revealed from the upload of the Expert Staff of the Minister of Finance, Yustinus Prastowo, through his personal Twitter page.
"Alhamdulillah, praise God! The RUU KUP (to become the Tax Regulation Harmonization Bill) was approved by Commission XI of the House of Representatives", he said via @prastow on Thursday, September 30.
From the postings, it is also known that the executive and legislature agreed to change the mention of the RUU KUP to the Tax Regulation Harmonization Bill.
Furthermore, Yustinus also ensured that the draft regulation would be forwarded to the next process to be later ratified into Law (UU).
"(The next RUU KUP) was brought to the Plenary Meeting and ratified into law", he said.
He claims that the discussion of this strategic regulation is quite comprehensive and goes through a dynamic flow.
"It's a long, deliberative, discursive, and dynamic process for tax reform and for Indonesia to progress and prospers", he said.
The editor then confirmed directly to Yustinus regarding the news of the bill which he called the policy on the Harmonization of Tax Regulations.
In his statement, he revealed that the RUU KUP would not be ratified at today's Plenary Session which has the agenda for the ratification of the 2022 State Budget Bill.
"I don't think so", he said in response to a VOI question.
He also declined to comment further regarding the schedule for the RUU KUP to be passed.
"We are just waiting for the plenary session and the official law", he added.

Based on the editorial notes, the discussion of the RUU KUP was first held on September 13 between the government, represented by the Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, and Commission XI of the House of Representatives.
Unfortunately, after the schedule, the agenda for the discussion is no longer known until today's news which states that the RUU KUP is just waiting for ratification in the House of Representatives Plenary Meeting.
Just so you know, the RUU KUP includes several important rules such as the imposition of tax levies on several necessities consumed by certain groups.
Not only that, but the state is also planning to collect taxes on educational institutions for the upper-middle class.
As compensation, the government called the Minister of Finance has provided a subsidy scheme as an element of social protection to the community for the policies that will later be implemented.
