Medan DPRD Reminds Bobby Nasution: Don't Give Out Project Cakes

MEDAN - Medan City DPRD asked the procurement service unit (ULP) of the Medan City Government to prevent the distribution of "cakes" in the re-auction of 27 infrastructure project packages this year.

"There should be no impression of sharing the 'cake' (projects) of the Medan City Government in the early years of Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution's leadership," said Secretary of Commission IV of the Medan City DPRD, Burhanuddin Sitepu, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 27.

The 27 infrastructure packages at the Medan City Public Works (PU) Department, continued Burhanuddin, are feared to be 'made from scratch' given the limited time for work.

Burhanuddin admitted that the cancellation of the infrastructure project had an impact on the limited time for work in the field, because this year, there were about three months left.

"Even what we are worried about is that the budget absorption will be minimal, and there will be miscalculation (overbudget) in the 2021 APBD," said Burhanuddin.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the Medan City DPRD, Edy Eka Suranta S Meliala, suspects that this re-tender is due to weak coordination between the Medan City DPU and the Medan City Government ULP.

"The lack of coordination between the PU and ULP offices has made it messy. The re-tender process will definitely take time, when will the work be done. It is better if that doesn't happen again in the future," he explained.
