The House Of Representatives Asks Government To Review Discourse On TNI-Polri To Become Acting Regional Head
JAKARTA - The government has announced that high-ranking National Armed Force (TNI) and National Police (Polri) officers will become acting regional heads in a number of regions. The reason is, there are a number of regional heads whose leadership terms will expire in 2022 and 2023.
Responding to this, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, reminded the government, namely the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) that they should not make arbitrary decisions if the news about the appointment of the TNI-Polri as officials to fill the vacant term of office of regional heads in 2022-2024 is true.
"Yes, I think the government should also provide an in-depth study of the active deployment of the TNI-Polri," said Dasco at the DPR building, Monday, September 27.
The reason, said Dasco, is that there are concerns if the position of the acting regional head is filled by the TNI-Polri.
"Because later it will reduce the resources in the TNI-Polri if all of them are then given to the TNI-Polri," said the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party Central Executive Board (DPP).
Dasco assessed that there may be acting regional heads from the TNI-Polri. However, it must be communicated first.
"And I think an in-depth study is important before making a decision like this," he said.
