Boy Playing Matches When His Father Pours Petrol, 4 Stalls In Badung Are Burned Down

BADUNG - Four stalls owned by residents in Sulangai Village, Badung Regency, Bali were burned down. The cause, a 5-year-old boy playing with matches and grabbing gasoline.

"With the fire incident, the overall loss is estimated at around IDR 150 million and from the statements of several (witnesses) the incident was purely due to negligence", said Head of Public Relations of the Badung Police, Iptu Ketut Sudana, Thursday, September 23.

The incident began when the shop owner Wayan Yogi Artawan poured gasoline into a bottle. He does sell gasoline and other foodstuffs.

At the same time, their second child played with a match until they grabbed the gasoline that was being poured.

"At that time the fire also grabbed the two victims which resulted in burns", added Sudana.

The owner of the shop, which is right next to Yogi Artawan's, shouted hysterically for help from residents.

"Residents contacted the Evening unit fire department and the police to be able to extinguish the fire and save other residents", he said.

The fire was extinguished about 20 minutes later. The fire scorched 4 stalls at the location. Meanwhile, the injured were taken to the Mangusada Hospital, Badung.

"Victim Yogi Artawan suffered burns to his feet and hands. The second child on the face, legs, hands, and body. Then the first child was injured on the body, has received treatment", continued Sudana.
