Rich Brian, NIKI, And Warren Hue's Story Behind Song Making For 'Shang-Chi'
JAKARTA - In celebration of the release of Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings in Indonesia, three musicians, namely Rich Brian, NIKI, and Warren Hue, shared their experiences and stories behind this historic project.
“This project is one of the most valuable moments in my career. To be a part of a big project where you feel represented and seen as an Asian artist is a dream come true and I feel very honored to be a part of this album," NIKI said in a press statement Wednesday, September 22, quoted from ANTARA.
The three musicians also talked about how they collaborated with Marvel Studios film director, Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, Destin Daniel Cretton, to make this album. Making this album was also a new and unique experience for them, especially for NIKI who recorded most of the songs at her house.
In search of inspiration for their songs, Rich Brian, NIKI, and Warren Hue explored their stories and imaginations with some special footage from the film to make up each song on the album.
NIKI tries to dig deeper into Xu Xialing, who is strong and determined. His resilience and independence greatly inspired his songs in "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings: The Album".
Meanwhile, Warren Hue draws his inspiration from parts of the film that he feels very close to as a young Asian.
"Collaborating on this album at the beginning of my career, it's unbelievable. As a big Marvel fan, to be on this album as an Asian singer, it's been really exciting. I'm sure this project will inspire many other young Asian artists as well," said Warren Hue.
At the end of the session, Rich Brian gave a special message to all the young creators out there. "I can't believe the three of us, young artists from Indonesia, are here singing on the Marvel soundtrack. It shows that anything is possible and I can't wait to see what we can achieve as Indonesians in this industry," said Rich Brian.
