Having 50 Million Customers In Indonesia, AstraPay Ready To Compete With Gopay, OVO, DANA, ShopeePay To LinkAja
JAKARTA - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) is confident that it will be able to compete in the electronic wallet (e-wallet) business which is currently being developed by banks and non-banks. Astra's confidence is based on the company's customer base, which reaches more than 50 million.
This, of course, can be a benchmark for Astra in the future in terms of market penetration. President Commissioner of PT Astra Digital Arta (AstraPay) Margono Tanuwijaya explained, based on market surveys, the potential for using electronic wallets is very large.
"Although currently there are five main players, the potential is still very large and Astra also has its own charm", he said at the AstraPay Grand Launching event, Wednesday, September 15.
Margono further explained the thing that distinguishes Astra from other e-wallet providers is the Astra ecosystem which is quite large. In addition to more than 50 million customers, the company sees that electronic wallet users in other places will also use AstraPay.
In Indonesia, according to a survey, one person can use up to four electronic wallets. Astra has also prepared a strategy to compete with other electronic wallet providers.
According to Margono, AstraPay does not only use promotional strategies in the form of giving cashback or others. However, the most important thing is the ease of use and data security.
"The most important thing is that Astra has the strength of an ecosystem in the form of an Astra network throughout Indonesia. This ecosystem is AstraPay's main capital to be able to penetrate, without having to burn money massively", he explained.
Meanwhile, AstraPay Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Melisa Muza Rusli said, in the early stages, AstraPay will be used within the Astra ecosystem. The ecosystem is a network of Federal International Finance (FIF) Group, Astra Credit Companies (ACC), Toyota Astra Finance (TAF), and Maucash.
"AstraPay can also be used at 2.300 outlets of Astra's automotive, financial and other divisions. AstraPay can also accept payments from 7.5 million merchants", he explained.
After connecting with the Astra ecosystem, AstraPay also wants to be connected to e-commerce. This is because collaboration with e-commerce is important. Therefore, AstraPay currently wants to become a big e-wallet player, so that it can attract e-commerce to collaborate.
