Observer: Gibran Admits The Success Of Handling COVID-19 In Jakarta, Means He Removes Political Barriers
JAKARTA - The Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, admitted that he always followed the example of DKI Jakarta in every meeting discussing COVID-19 in his area.
Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, M. Jamiluddin Ritonga, said that Gibran's confession showed his professionalism at work. Where Gibran assesses the success of DKI Jakarta by eliminating narrow political interests.
"As mayor, Gibran has acknowledged the success of Jakarta's handling of COVID-19. He removed political barriers so that his assessment is clearer and more objective", Jamiluddin said in his statement to VOI, Monday, September 13.
Jamiluddin said Gibran has set a good example in assessing the work of a person or an institution. This, he said, needs to be followed by other politicians who often judge a person's work well only because of their political alignment with him.
"Those who don't share a political opinion are automatically judged to be negative. So, Gibran's assessment is in line with the assessment of experts in the field of pandemics", he said.

Jamiluddin said that the handling of COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta, led by Anies Baswedan, used a scientific approach so that everything was measurable.
"Everything that is done is always measurable so that the achievement of the target for handling COVID-19 can be predicted from the start. This can be done because Anies involves competent people in their fields", said Jamiluddin.
