Advanced Specifications For The MV-22 Osprey Helicopter Purchased By Indonesia

JAKARTA - Indonesia will have a new main weaponry tool (alutsista), namely the MV-22 Osprey helicopter. The eight helicopters were purchased for US $ 2 billion or around Rp.28.76 trillion.

Judging from its official website, the MV-22 Osprey is a development of the Bell Helicopter Textron manufacturer with Boeing. Both of them built a tiltrotor combat transport aircraft that also has the capability of a helicopter.

In its home country of the United States, the MV-22 Osprey is operated as a support unit for the Marine corps and has replaced the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters since 2007. Where this aircraft is capable of carrying 24 personnel in one flight.

Citing the Naval Air Systems Command, the MV-22 Osprey has a maximum speed of 500 km per hour. The range of this helicopter is 428 nautical miles (nm) or about 792 kilometers.

The MV-22 Osprey is 17 meters long, 25.78 meters wide and 6.73 meters high. This 30-ton helicopter also has a wing configuration similar to a fixed-wing aircraft, but with two trilotor engines.

This makes the MV-22 Osprey the fastest turboprop aircraft in its class. Especially with the ability to maneuver vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), as well as short takeoff and landing (STOL) which is faster than most helicopters.

Apart from being able to carry passengers and cargo, this helicopter can also carry out combat search and rescue missions, as well as support the logistics of the fleet and provide long-distance transportation for special operations.
