Two Bodies Of Tangerang Class I Prison Fire Victims Identified Through DNA Matching

JAKARTA - A total of 10 bodies of fire victims in Class I prison in Tangerang, Banten have been identified by the National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team. Two of the bodies were identified using DNA matching and one was identified by fingerprints.

"Two (of them were identified) through DNA matching and one can still be identified through fingerprints," said Karopenmas of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono at a press conference at the Police Hospital, Sunday 12 September.

Two victims identified using DNA matching are Rocky Purnama (28), and Pujiyono alias Destro (28). Meanwhile, Hadi WIjoyo (39) was identified based on fingerprints.

"Until today, on September 12, 2021, the DVI team has succeeded in identifying 10 bodies, only 31 bodies remain (unidentified)," said Rusdi.

Thus, the death toll in the incident to 45 people.

Public Relations of the Tangerang Hiwani Hospital revealed that the victim was 42 years old and suffered burns up to 63 percent.

"Last night (September 11) he died at 21.30 WIB," Hilwani told reporters, Sunday, September 12.

The victim who died, said Hilwani, experienced shortness of breath. He has received treatment from the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

Currently, the police have upgraded the status of the fire investigation to an investigation.

The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus said his party had pocketed a number of evidence and criminal charges in the case.

In addition, his party is making plans to summon a number of witnesses and look for suspects in this case, while continuing to collect evidence.
