Mitigation Team Of The Indonesian Doctors Association: 730 Doctors Died Due To The COVID-19 Pandemic
JAKARTA - The Mitigation Team for the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) noted that the total number of doctors who died due to the COVID-19 pandemic reached 730 doctors.
"The death of a doctor's colleague, as of Thursday, counted 730 doctors who died. Most of the general practitioners were 385, followed by obstetrics and gynecology specialists, internal medicine specialists, and child health", said Head of the Mitigation Team for PB IDI Doctors, Adib Khumaidi quoted Between, Thursday, September 10.
He said the highest number of doctors' deaths due to COVID-19 occurred in July 2021, reaching 216 people. In August 2021, the PB IDI Mitigation Team noted that 72 doctors had also died due to COVID-19.
"This means that doctors' deaths are still high. We hope that in September and the following month there will be no more deaths of doctors' colleagues", he said.
Adin also said that the highest number of doctors who died by region occurred in East Java, which was 165 people.
Followed by West Java as many as 111 doctors, Central Java as many as 103 doctors, DKI Jakarta as many as 95, and North Sumatra as many as 52 doctors died.
"The highest mortality is at the age of 50-60 years", said Adib.
"We have lost 43 professors, which of course will mean a lot to the profession, means a lot to the country, and to the community", he said.

In an effort to control the pandemic and help doctors, Adib also said that his party had distributed donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) to a number of areas, including Gorontalo, Kupang, Papua, East Java, and Greater Jakarta (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi).
"In Jabodetabek, we immediately handed it over to friends in health facilities, namely hospitals and health centers", he said.
