Decrease In Indonesian COVID-19 Cases Makes Malaysian Politician Surprised, Ministry Of Health: You Can Check It For Yourself

JAKARTA - Director of Prevention and Control of Direct Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi responded to the statement of Malaysian politician, Lim Kit Siang, who doubted the current decline in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.

Nadia explained, the development of cases that are starting to improve is really happening. Data submitted by the government can also be checked directly by all parties.

"This data can be checked directly in the field and to the public", said Nadia when confirmed, Tuesday, September 7.

Nadia emphasized that the current number of COVID-19 really shows a decrease in the rate of transmission of the coronavirus.

The measurement is seen from the decline in positive confirmed cases, the occupancy of treatment beds and special isolation for COVID-19, and the case fatality rate.

According to Nadia, the improvement in the condition of this pandemic can occur thanks to the cooperation of all parties in carrying out the policy for the Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to date.

"This is especially the case with PPKM policies, but what is important is the support and collaboration between the government and the community, including experts", she said.

Previously, politician Lim Kit Siang admitted that he was surprised by the decline in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, which was faster than Malaysia, even though the population was smaller than in Indonesia.

"Could the new health minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, explain why for 16 consecutive days, Indonesia has reduced its daily new COVID-19 cases to less than Malaysia, even less than half?" said Lim as reported by the Malay Mail.

"This is not finding fault but looking for ways to improve our handling of the COVID-19 pandemic so as to win the war against it", the Democratic Action Party (DAP) leader added.
