Allegedly Bringing Sonokeling Wood From Illegal Logging, Men In Banyuwangi Arrested
BANYUWANGI - Allegedly carrying timber from illegal logging, a man from Kedung Gebang Village, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java was arrested by the police.
The man with the initials AT (36), brought dozens of rosewood species without any documents. He was arrested by the Tegaldlimo Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, along with BTN PPNS (Civil Servant Investigator (PPNS) National Park Hall) officer, Alas Purwo.
Tegaldlimo police chief AKP Bambang Suprapto said AT was arrested when police officers and BTN PPNS Alas Purwo patrolled.
While crossing the public road entering Paluagung Hamlet, Kendalrejo Village, Tegaldlimo District, officers passed a truck with the police number P 8587 UR with suspicious behavior.
"Then the officers stopped the truck. It turned out that the truck was found to be carrying as many as thirty-one Sono Rivet wood", said AKP Bambang Suprapto, Monday, September 6th.
When asked about the transport documents, AT was unable to show these files. He could only quibble.
"Then we secured the AT. After the investigation, the results were now AT has been named a suspect and we are temporarily detained at the Tegaldlimo Police Headquarters," he said.

The perpetrator is charged with Article 83 Paragraph 1 Letter b Jo Article 12 Letter e and/or Article 88 Paragraph 1 Letter a Jo Article 16 of Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction.
