Good News For Students! Sri Mulyani Opens Internship Opportunities At The Ministry Of Finance

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance is said to open opportunities for final year students who want to gain work experience through an internship.

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, Heru Pambudi, said this step was a strategy to increase transparency and accountability within the Ministry of Finance.

"The provision of internship opportunities is directly regulated through the Circular Letter of the Minister of Finance Number 46 of 2020 concerning the Mechanism of Implementing Student Internships in the Ministry of Finance", he said in a webinar Merdeka Belajar - Kampus Merdeka on Friday, September 3.

According to Heru, the program received a pretty good response from the academic community. This is evidenced by the large number of participants who take part in the internship agenda with the number reaching thousands of people.

"Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm from the campus is very good. We report that from January to August this year there have been 1,623 students who have internships at the Ministry of Finance. This number consisted of 934 people from 65 state universities, while the other 684 people came from 119 private universities. In fact, 5 students come from universities abroad”, he said.

On that occasion, Heru also ratified a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the internship program between the Ministry of Finance and three universities in the country, namely Padjadjaran University, Jember University, and Jakarta Veterans National Development University.

"Hopefully this step can provide progress for Indonesia, especially in creating a superior young generation", he said.

For information, the internship program at the ministry led by Sri Mulyani is still being carried out online to avoid physical contact as a way to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, several majors that can be accepted for internships at the Ministry of Finance include accounting, law, international relations, development economics, information engineering, and public administration. Meanwhile, the placement is adjusted to the needs in echelon 1 units of the Ministry of Finance.
