TNI Service Car Hits Trader At Item Bridge Market, 2 Dying Coffee Selling Couples
JAKARTA - A unit of the TNI's official car crashed into street vendors (PKL) at the Jembatan Item flea market, Jatinegara Timur II street, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.
As a result of the accident, at least 3 traders suffered severe injuries all over their bodies and were hit hard.
One trader whose identity has not been identified was seriously injured due to the heavy impact, while the other two are a husband and wife couple who are coffee traders at the scene.
According to a number of residents who saw the incident, the incident occurred on Sunday, August 29, around 23.00 western Indonesia time. At first, the car drove from the direction of Jatinegara Station towards the Jembatan Item TL.
Saeprudin, one of the traders around the location who saw the incident said the official car suddenly lost control and hit a motorbike parked in front of Rio's inn. The Yamaha Mio motorbike was dragged about 7 meters from the parking lot.
"Here, right on the sidewalk, the man is selling. He was hit and badly injured. He has been taken to the Premier Jatinegara hospital," he told VOI at the location, Monday, August 30, early in the morning.
As of Monday morning at around 01.30 western Indonesia time, police officers from the East Jakarta Metro Police and the TNI Denpom are still conducting investigations at the site of the deadly accident. The joint officers were seen collecting data and questioning witnesses.
At around 02.00 western Indonesia time, a tow truck from the East Jakarta Police Traffic Unit arrived at the location. The dark green official car belonging to the TNI was crushed in the front hood after hitting the MCB that divides the road and a shop owned by a trader that was destroyed.

Meanwhile, a motorbike that was suspected to belong to a visitor to the inn was also destroyed and damaged. In addition to motorcycles, bicycles, and stalls belonging to the victims, traders were also destroyed.
According to Saeprudin, the total victims were 3 people who were traders in the market area of the former Jembatan Item.
"Yes, about three people were seriously injured. They are all traders, they usually work at night here. The condition of the three victims is critical but they have been taken to the nearest hospital," he said.
In order to anticipate the crowd of residents, the East Jakarta Polrestro Satlantas finally towed the TNI official car. Meanwhile, damaged motorcycles and bicycles were also confiscated as evidence.
Until this news was published, there has been no official statement from the East Jakarta Police Traffic Unit and the TNI Denpom. Meanwhile, the case is still being handled by the TNI Denpom for further processing.
