Controlling The Pandemic In Indonesia, Jokowi To Call The State That Successfully Reduces COVID-19 Cases

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo explained that the development of daily COVID-19 cases in Indonesia had decreased significantly. The government, he said, would continue to learn from countries that have managed to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This daily development of COVID-19 cases is really difficult to predict, but alhamdulillah on August 24 yesterday, we were already at 19,000 out of 56,000. I think this is what we are learning as well," Jokowi said in the uploaded video of Presidential Secretariat YouTube, Saturday, August 28.

President Jokowi admitted that he had contacted several friendly countries that had succeeded in controlling the pandemic to be implemented in the country.

"I called several countries that we judged had succeeded in controlling and we tried to modify them here in order to control in our country, Indonesia," he said.

Regarding the BOR development of hospital bed occupancy, Jokowi continued, last May Indonesia had reached 29 percent and then jumped to almost 80 percent in July.

"Today we have lowered it again to 30 percent, thank God. We should also be grateful for all the work of the TNI, Polri, Ministry of SOEs, local governments, all of them are working. Currently, our recovery rate is above the world average of 89.5 percent, Indonesia at 89.97 percent," he explained.

Meanwhile, according to Jokowi, what still needs to be done is the number of deaths that must be suppressed. Then also the vaccination rating.

"We are from 220 countries, yes, our ranking is not so bad. If we count the number of people who have been vaccinated to date, we are already number 4. India is number 1, America is number 2, Brazil is number 3, we are number 4, Indonesia," he said.

"Then based on the total injections, we are number 7. So far, 91.9 million doses have been injected. Not inferior to Germany, Japan, Brazil, America and India, and China," said Jokowi.
