Urged By Residents Because His Performance Is Not Maximum, Wouma Papua District Head Resigns

JAKARTA - Head of Wouma District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, Sony Matuan, has resigned from his position after being urged by residents because his performance was considered less than optimal.

Sonny Matuan announced his resignation in front of the Deputy Regent of Jayawijaya, Marthin Yogobi along with hundreds of residents who visited the Jayawijaya Regent's Office on Wednesday, August 25.

"The community has heard, not me and the regent who ordered him to resign. He declared himself to resign from the position of Wouma District Head", Jayawijaya Deputy Regent Marthin Yogobi told the Wouma community as reported by Antara, Wednesday, August 25.

The residents of Wouma District asked for the district head to be replaced because they suspected that the district head was involved with various parties and took advantage of social assistance.

"We will be ready for a further process (resignation) in accordance with the national staffing regulations because we are still within the rules", said Deputy Regent Marthin.

Desakan pergantian kepala distrik sudah disampaikan oleh warga sejak mereka melakukan demonstrasi bantuan sosial ke Posindo Wamena pada 12 Agustus 2021.

One of the problems that triggered the residents to ask the district head to be replaced was related to social assistance. In addition, they considered the performance of the district head there to be unsatisfactory.
