From January-August, Riau Police Have Handled 20 Cases Of Forest Fire
JAKARTA - The Riau Police and a number of regional units for the January-August 2021 period have handled 20 cases of forest and land fires (karhutla) in Riau Province with 24 suspects.
"Of the 20 cases, 12 case files have been declared complete or P-21 by the prosecutor's office in each jurisdiction where the forest and land fires occurred", said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Riau Police, Commissioner Ferry Irawan, in a statement in Pekanbaru, as reported by Antara, Wednesday,
He said that his party handled a forest and land fire case with one suspect with a burned area of 37 hectares. The suspect's examination dossier is complete and the suspect has been handed over to the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
He said the Indragiri Hilir Police (Inhil) handled 5 cases with 7 suspects with an area of 18 hectares of burned land.
"Of the five cases of forest and land fires at Inhil, two cases are still in the investigation stage, one case is in the first stage of transferring files to the prosecutor's office, and 2 cases are in stage II", he said.

The Pelalawan Police handled two cases with two suspects. One case is still under investigation, and another case is in phase II with an area of 1.9 hectares of burned land.
The Bengkalis Police handled three cases with three individual suspects, and the burned land area reached 3.5 hectares and all case investigations have been completed.
Furthermore, the Siak Police handled a case with one suspect with an area of 0.04 hectares of burned land.
"The Dumai Police handled two cases with two suspects, and the burned land reached 10.25 hectares", said Ferry again.
Meanwhile, the Meranti Islands Police are investigating a case with one suspect whose investigation has been completed. The area of the burned land was recorded at 5 hectares, and the Kampar Police handled two cases with two suspects. For one case, the investigation is in phase I, and the rest have entered phase II, with a burned land area of 1.5 hectares.
