Central Kalimantan's Katingan BPBD Recorded, 1,678 Residential House Units Were Flooded
KALTENG - Floods that have occurred in Central Kalimantan in recent days have submerged thousands of houses. Most are found in Sanaman Mantikei and Katingan Districts.
This was stated by the Chief Executive of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan, Roby.
As many as 207 units were submerged in Sanaman Mantikei District and spread over five villages. Meanwhile, in Central Katingan District, there are 1,678 units in six villages/kelurahan.
Roby added that flooding has also begun to spread in Pulau Malan District. This condition is expected to have an impact on the Districts of Tewang Sangalang Garing, Katingan Hilir, Tasik Payawan and Kamipang.
Meanwhile, flooding in the Katingan Hulu and Marikit sub-districts has receded and is normal. People started to clean their houses and started to return to their activities.
"Due to this flood incident, the Katingan Regency Government has provided basic food assistance to residents affected by the flood," said Roby as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 24.
In addition, he continued, to maintain the safety of conditions in flooded areas, the local government also established flood posts.
Roby explained that on Tuesday morning, the Deputy Regent of Katingan, Sunardi Litang, visited a number of places affected by the flood. This working visit was to see firsthand the conditions at the flood site, as well as to distribute aid to flood victims in a number of sub-districts.
The aid will be distributed in Tewang Sanggalang Garing District, Malan Island, Central Katingan, Sanaman Mantikei and Katingan Hulu.
Also on the working visit was Katingan Police Chief AKBP Paulus Sonny Bhakti Wibowo, Liaison Officer for Sampit 1015 Kodim Major Inf Supriyanto, Head of Social Service, Elmon Sianturi and Head of Health Service Dr. Robertus Pamuriyanto and other officials.
"The report I received is that the Deputy Head of Sunardi NT Litang is currently in Pulau Malan Subdistrict. He has symbolically provided basic food assistance to the Malan Island subdistrict head to reduce the burden on residents affected by the flood," said Roby.
