Still PPKM Level 4, Cycling In Sudirman-Thamrin Still Banned By Polda Metro Jaya

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya has not yet issued a permit for cyclists to cross the Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin section. This is because currently it is still in the PPKM level 4 phase.

"It's still prohibited during PPKM level 4," said Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Friday, August 20.

Although strictly prohibited, Sambodo did not specify the deadline for the rule to apply. He only emphasized that the rules were aimed at preventing crowds.

"Forbidden (cycling in Sudirman-Thamrin), afraid of crowds," he briefly said.

Previously, during the extension of PPKM level 4, Polda Metro Jaya implemented three new schemes. One of them by applying the odd-even system.

"There are three (schemas) first, mobility control with an odd-even system," said Sambodo.

This scheme will be implemented on Thursday, August 12. Then, this scheme will take effect from 06.00 WIB to 20.00 WIB.

"This underlies the SK Kadishub number 320 of 2021 on August 10, 2021," said Sambodo.

This odd-even scheme will also be implemented on Jalan Sudirman, Jalan MH Thanrin, Jalan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan, and Jalan Gatot Subroto.

Then for the second scheme by patrolling for a full 24 hours. There are at least 20 areas that are included in the list of police officers.

These areas include, along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, along Jalan Sabang, along Jalan Bulungan, along Jalan Asia Afrika-Tanjakan Ladogi, East Flood Canal, Kota Tua area, Kelapa Gading area, and Jalan Kemang Raya.

Then, the Al Akbar Mosque area of Kemayoran, Sunter, Jatinegara, Jalan Pintu 1 TMII, PIK, Tanah Abang Market, Senen Market, Jalan Raya Bogor, Jalan Maujen Sutoyo (Cawang PGC), Otista-Dewi Sartika, Warung Buncit-Mampang Prapatan, and the last is Ciledug Raya.

While the third way is by implementing a traffic engineering scheme. But this method is only applied if conditions are possible or situational.
