40 Minutes Of State Speech, Why Doesn't Jokowi Mention Corruption Except When He Reads The Acronym For KPK?
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) delivered a state speech at the Annual Session of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, the Joint Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives to welcome the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in approximately 40 minutes. However, at that time he did not mention the issue of eradicating corruption.
In fact, Jokowi only mentioned the word 'corruption' once when he said that the KPK stands for the Corruption Eradication Commission. In fact, referring to the schedule of events, Jokowi is scheduled to make a speech from 09.08 WIB to 09.53 WIB.
This was then responded to by the Special Staff of the Minister of State Secretary, Faldo Maldini, who said this was due to time constraints in delivering a speech. This reason made President Jokowi unable to convey many things during the event.
"Of course, due to the limited time in the speech, the President cannot highlight all the issues in his state speech this time", Faldo told reporters, Monday, August 16.
Although he did not mention the corruption eradication program, he ensured that Jokowi was committed to eradicating corruption. In fact, President Jokowi has presented good governance and innovation in bureaucratic reform.
One way, said Faldo, was by presenting the Online Single Submission (OSS), which he had mentioned in his state speech at the annual session.
"With the OSS it also means breaking the potential chain of corruption in the bureaucracy, this is also a commitment shown by the president. Not only with words, but we are responsible with work and fulfilling responsibilities", he said.

Regarding human rights, Faldo said, President Jokowi is currently ensuring the right to life, the right to earn income with the government's work program.
In addition, the issue of human rights is also not mentioned much because it is included in the National Action Plan for Human Rights (RAN HAM) 2021-2025. "So it may not be explicit point by point given the time constraints", he concluded.
