Ministry Of Trade Blocks Vaccine Card Printing Services In E-Commerce

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade through the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Orderly Commerce (PKTN) has increased the supervision of card printing services with COVID-19 vaccines in the Indonesian marketplace or market workshops. This follows the discovery of 83 merchant links offering vaccine card/certificate printing services at various prices.

The Ministry of Trade in collaboration with the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) supervises trade in online vaccine card printing services offered at market workshops. The Directorate General of PKTN has also taken down the link and blocked keywords containing the phrase "vaccine certificate", "vaccine printing service", and the like.

"So far, 137 keywords and 2453 vaccine card printing products and services have been blocked," said Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order, Veri Anggrijono in a statement, Saturday, August 12. The Ministry of Trade then invites consumers to be more careful. "Especially in entrusting personal data to print vaccine cards for the safety of consumers themselves," said Veri.

Furthermore, Veri explained, vaccine card printing activities may violate consumer rights as regulated in Article 4 letter a, Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection (UUPK) which regulates consumer rights for comfort, security, and safety in consuming goods. and/or services.

In addition, it is also stated in Article 10 letter c of the UUPK which prohibits business actors from offering, promoting, advertising, or making false or misleading statements regarding conditions, dependents, guarantees, rights, or compensation for goods and/or services.

Offers for card printing business players who have COVID-19 vaccine, which does not mention the risk of disclosing personal data can be categorized as misleading offers and result in consumers submitting personal data without knowing the risks that may arise. In addition, said Veri, business actors who offer card printing services with COVID-19 vaccine must comply with Article 65 of Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade (Trade Law) to provide complete and correct data and/or information. "Including the technical requirements of the services offered, which include the use of consumer personal data," said Veri.

Meanwhile, the Director of Circulating Goods and Services Supervision Ivan Fithriyanto emphasized that the supervision carried out on vaccine card printing services at the market shop was to anticipate the theft of Indonesian consumer data. In addition, to prevent data manipulation that can be used by individuals to print fake vaccine certificates or other interests that will harm consumers themselves.
