Fun Fact: Lewandowski Regularly Scores In The Opening Game Of The Bundesliga For The Seventh Season In A Row

JAKARTA - Robert Lewandowski continues the trend of scoring goals in the opening week of the German League for the seventh season in a row. The last time Lewandowski scored against Borussia Moenchengladbach was when Bayern Munich drew 1-1 at Borussia Park, Friday local time.

Lewandowski scored the crucial goal to secure a point for Bayern, who trailed Gladbach from 10 minutes into Alassane Plea's goal.

The Polish striker won one step away from Nico Elvedi's control to meet Joshua Kimmich's pass and find the net in the 42nd minute.

With this goal, Lewandowski sharpened the record for opening weekend goals that he previously had for himself. The last time Lewandowski didn't score in a season opener was in 2014/15 when he recently made a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund and made his debut for Die Bayern.

As well as sharpening his season-opening goalscoring record, Lewandowski is now on the verge of another scintillating record after equaling Bayern's scoring streak for 11 consecutive league games.

Despite his personal record, Lewandowski admits that Bayern needs to do much better after only opening the season and Julian Nagelsmann's tenure in charge with just one point.

"Today was a tight match. Both teams had their chances," Lewandowski said after the match was quoted from Bayern's official website.

"Playing here is always difficult. We played well, but there are many things we have to improve," he added.

Bayern will next host FC Cologne at the Allianz Arena on Sunday, August 21 next week, but five days earlier they will first travel to Signal Iduna Park to face Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup tie.
