West Sumatra Police Chief: 6,116 Personnel Don't Have Homes, Still Live With Parents
JAKARTA - West Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Toni Harmanto, said 6,116 West Sumatra Police personnel do not yet have their own homes.
"West Sumatra Police have 10,675 personnel and 4,559 private houses, while 6,116 other personnel still live at their parents' house or their parents-in-law's house", he said when signing a memorandum of understanding for the subsidized housing program for West Sumatra Regional Police employees in Padang, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 12.
According to him, the National Police is currently paying special attention to improving the welfare of Polri employees through the National Police Chief's priority program to gradually meet housing needs.
He said the West Sumatra Police had taken steps and provided directions to all Kasatker and Kasatwil in approving loans or credits for members to pay attention to the priority scale.
"Loans or housing loans are the priority that must be done before making other consumer credit loans", he said.
He said this needed socialization and education to all personnel regarding the facilities provided to obtain subsidized housing, then gave an appeal to change the consumptive lifestyle to become frugal and simple.

The West Sumatra Regional Police invited related parties who were present at this event to sign a joint decision on the Subsidized Housing Procurement Program for Civil Servants at the West Sumatra Police.
"This activity is a step and our joint commitment to support the government to carry out economic and social recovery in the midst of a pandemic, as well as to improve the welfare of Police employees is gradually meeting the housing needs for Police members", he said.
The signing of this joint decision was carried out by the Head of the West Sumatra Police, Inspector General Toni Harmanto, with the W Sumatra Housing Provision Working Unit, the West Sumatra Head of Settlement and Land Affairs Office, the West Sumatra Regional Representative Council Real Estate Chair, the Bank Leaders (BRI, BNI, Mandiri, BTN) for the West Sumatra Region and the Head of PT Asabri West Sumatra, Thursday, August 12 at the West Sumatra Police Headquarters.
