Mother And Child With Mental Disorders Status Arrested By Bekasi Social Service For Disrupting Public

JAKARTA - A mother and child who are known to be people with mental disorders (ODGJ) have been secured by the Social Service of Bekasi Regency, West Java. This is done because they disturb security and public order.

"We have detained both of them because they are disturbing residents", said Head of the Bekasi District Social Service Endin Samsudin in Cikarang, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 12.

He said the two were evacuated by joint officers while they were in the Cikarang Wholesale Center (SGC) area, Cikarang City Village, North Cikarang District.

Endin admitted that initially, he received reports from residents regarding the presence of two ODGJs who often disturbed road users around SGC Cikarang.

The joint team then conducted an assessment and coordinated with the Al Fajar Berseri Tambun Selatan Foundation for ODGJ rehabilitation.

"We will pick them up for rehabilitation at the Al Fajar Berseri Foundation", he said.

Endin said the two ODGJs had to be taken away by officers because they often roamed around and disturbed the comfort and order of residents, especially road users.

"Based on the reports we received, the child often acts that endanger road users by throwing bottles filled with water and stones at every passing vehicle and even beating pedestrians", he said.

In addition to securing the mother and child, the joint team also evacuated an ODGJ from Mariuk Village, Gandasari Village, West Cikarang District to the rehabilitation center in South Tambun.

"We evacuated them because they are disturbing the environment because they often do damage to the houses of residents", he said.
