Headmaster In Kapuas Central Kalimantan Arrested By Police For Oblivious Of 4 Students

KAPUAS - An elementary school principal in Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan, with the initials IP (43) was arrested by the police for allegedly committing obscene acts against four of his students.

"The perpetrator's actions were only revealed after the victim's parents reported it to the Kapuas Police Headquarters", said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kapuas Police, AKP Kristanto Situmeang, in Kuala Kapuas, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 4.

Following up on the report, he continued, Kapuas Police personnel immediately arrested IP. When the officers were arrested, the perpetrator did not fight back and was immediately taken to the Kapuas Police Headquarters for further processing.

The IP perpetrator molested four students who were still in fifth grade by calling four of his female students who had taken the national exam (UN), to return to school with the excuse of improving their grades.

These students (victims), were then called to the principal's room and took turns to enter the room. After entering the room, these female students took turns being molested.

After the molestation, the perpetrator asked the students to swear not to tell their parents or relatives about the incident. After that, they were ordered to return to their respective homes.

"This depraved act was carried out by the perpetrator in the local school principal's office, last Friday, May 21", said Kristanto.

For the actions of IP perpetrators, the police will ensnare him in article 81 paragraphs 1 and 2 concerning child protection with a maximum penalty of 15 years and a minimum of 5 years in prison.

"We have detained IP, and currently we are still in the further process of being responsible for his actions. For the punishment for perpetrators of sexual abuse of minors, the threat of a maximum sentence of 15 years and a minimum of 5 years in prison", said Kristanto.
