Akidi Tio's Family Values Don't Need To Be Suspects, Gus Jazil MPR: Donation Of IDR 2 Trillion Is Just An Intention, What's Wrong?
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Jazilul Fawaid, assessed that Akidi Tio's family did not need to be suspects even though the intention to donate IDR 2 trillion to help the government deal with the COVID-19 pandemic did not materialize.
Gus Jazil, as he is known, said that Akidi Tio's family had just state their intention to help, while the money was not yet available. Intention to help is not a mistake.
"What's wrong with people wanting to help?", Gus Jazil said as quoted by Antara, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 4.
In fact, continued Gus Jazil, if later the money really exists and is found, then Akidi Tio's family declares they will not donate IDR 2 trillion, it cannot be blamed because what they did was intentional and voluntary. "Everything that happened was just intentional", the member of House of Representatives Commission III emphasized.
The news about Akidi Tio's family intending to donate money is similar to the story of Abu Nawas wanting to fly.
Long story short, the public who had flocked to see Abu Nawas fly was angry because they felt cheated. Abu Nawas, who previously boasted that he wanted to fly, turned out to only move his hands imitating the movement of a bird flapping its wings. Abu Nawas also argued that he wanted to fly, not being able to fly.
"The message conveyed in the story of Abu Nawas is that we must be careful in receiving the news. News should not be swallowed raw", said Gus Jazili.
According to Gus Jazil, the Indonesian people are currently experiencing difficulties, so if there are people who have good intentions to help the government, they must be respected.
"Let alone IDR 2 trillion, IDR 200,000 is already very valuable. But don't let people who have good intentions become suspects", he said.

Gus Jazil added that in this case there is also no need to blame each other. The police are not to blame.
"What do these people want to blame, people, come to donate. Now they feel cheated, they are being pranked, what did they do? Yes, someone wants to donate when the Polda is blamed? People want to donate, yes, please," he said.
If you want to reveal it, said Gus Jazil, Akidi Tio's family actually wanted to make a joke or really wanted to help, or indeed they had difficulty disbursing the IDR 16 trillion that was claimed to be in Singapore.
If the money is indeed in Singapore, continued Gus Jazil, there is nothing wrong with the government help. Later the government will get IDR 2 trillion.
"But there are so many stories like this in the community. There used to be stories about Bung Karno's money, there was also the demolition of graves in Batu Tulis, that's normal, you don't have to take it seriously", said Gus Jazil.
Gus Jazil said that the public does not need to take this issue too seriously.
