Bobby Nasution Asks Hospitals To Provide 30 Percent Beds For COVID-19 Patients
MEDAN - The City Government (Pemko) of Medan, North Sumatra asked hospitals to provide about 30 percent of the total special beds for handling COVID-19 patients.
"We continue to ask all hospitals in Medan City to provide 30 percent of the available COVID-19 beds," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution, quoted by Antara, Monday, August 2.
According to Bobby Nasution, this is to anticipate a surge in confirmed cases of COVID-19, which will increase the bed occupancy rate (BOR).
The Mayor of Medan explained, the average addition of cases per day in this area has reached 400 cases, and once confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 700 cases per day.
"Currently, the number of BOR in Medan City has reached 73 percent. Of the more than 8,000 beds, only 28 percent are dedicated beds for COVID-19 patients in hospitals," explained Bobby Nasution.
The Medan City COVID-19 Task Force report on Sunday, August 1, stated that 29,087 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded, consisting of 20,946 recovered, 7,457 were treated and 684 died.
"From 2,900 testing (checks) per day carried out, currently it has been increased to above 3,000. The target per day for testing is 4,900," said the Mayor of Medan.
