Xiaomi Registers A Patent For A Folding Phone Similar To The Galaxy Z Flip

JAKARTA - Galaxy Z Flip has become a phenomenal folding phone. Now Xiaomi is reportedly working on a folding phone that has a mechanism similar to that of Samsung's phone.

The report quoted from 91Mobiles, Monday, July 12, the company has submitted a design patent to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). The patent shows the phone appears to have a mechanism that folds in and is placed in the middle.

Furthermore, this foldable phone has a horizontal module on the back that houses the two camera sensors, it is likely to also be equipped with an LED flash. There is also a small square screen located next to the rear camera module.

It is claimed, this small secondary screen is useful for displaying notification icons, time, or functioning as a camera viewfinder. However, this possibility could be a great telephoto lens.

The volume button and power button are on the right side of the body. While the speakers, USB Type-C port, and SIM card slot are located at the bottom of the body. Unfortunately, the patent shows it doesn't have a 3.5mm audio jack.

On the front, there is a pill-shaped cutout to accommodate two selfie cameras or a selfie camera equipped with an LED flash.

This Xiaomi foldable phone patent also reveals a slim design, which may result in a large reduction in battery capacity. Given that it is still in the form of a patent, so we still have to wait when Xiaomi starts working on this folding phone.
