7 Self-Isolating COVID-19 Patients Died During Emergency PPKM

CIANJUR - The Cianjur Health Service, West Java, recorded seven COVID-19 patients who were self-isolating at home, died during Emergency-Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM). The self-isolated patient is thought to have died due to the lack of health support facilities, including oxygen cylinders, which are difficult to obtain.

The head of the Cianjur Health Office, Dr. Irvan Nur Fauzy, said that COVID-19 positive patients who were in self-isolation at home were waiting for isolation rooms at hospitals and special places which until now were still full, so queues were applied.

"Those who died were due to the lack of health support facilities while undergoing treatment at home. So we asked the task forces in each region to more intensively monitor and provide health services for patients with severe symptoms", he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 9.

Those who are self-isolating at home, while waiting for centralized isolation rooms such as hospitals and special villas are empty. The reason is that since the last one month, hundreds of isolation rooms in hospitals and special villas have been filled, although the number has been increased.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Cianjur COVID-19 Information and Coordination Center, Dr. Yusman Faisal, said that regarding the death of 7 positive COVID-19 patients who underwent independent isolation due to the lack of health support facilities, his party would be concerned.

Even shortly, the task force will coordinate with the relevant agencies to provide medicine and oxygen cylinders in each task force down to the village level in sufficient quantities as an anticipation effort for residents who are undergoing self-isolation.

"We will immediately provide medical aids to medicines and vitamins for patients who are self-isolating at home while waiting for centralized isolation rooms such as hospitals and special villas to empty", he said.
