Police Close 2 Access Toll Bekasi To Jakarta

CIKARANG - Police personnel has closed two toll access roads in Bekasi Regency, West Java, which lead to DKI Jakarta to support the implementation of Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM).

"We have closed the Delta Mas and Grand Wisata toll gates leading to Jakarta", said Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Kombes Hendra Gunawan, in Cikarang, West Java, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.

Hendra said the closure of access to the capital was aimed at limiting the mobility of Bekasi Regency residents until the end of the emergency PPKM period.

"We are closing, we are blocking access to limit the activities or mobility of residents", he said.

His party still allows residents to pass through the two toll gate accesses on the condition that they meet the criteria set out in the emergency PPKM policy.

Those who are allowed to pass, he said, are residents who want to travel to Jakarta with the categories of workers in the essential and critical sectors as well as in emergency conditions.

"In addition to the criteria mentioned above, we will turn around, no crossing is allowed", he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Traffic Police of the Bekasi Metro Police, AKBP Argo Wiyono, said officers shortly will also close access to two other toll gates leading to Jakarta, namely Cikarang Barat and Cibatu toll gates.

"By the purpose of implementing the emergency PPKM, namely limiting the mobility of residents because the spike in cases of the Coronavirus is still high. Blocking access at toll gates is one of our efforts", he said.

Together with TNI soldiers, Transportation Service personnel, and Bekasi Civil Service Police Unit Regency, his party will continue to make efforts to limit the mobility of residents and also asked to comply with the emergency PPKM rules by staying at home.

"If you have to go out only for urgent needs. We also ask residents to comply with health protocols while still implementing the 5M strictly to avoid transmission of the Coronavirus", he said.

With the closure of the toll road access to Jakarta, practically the traffic density that is often found on these roads is now no longer visible.

There are far fewer drivers of four and more wheels allowed to pass than normal traffic before the implementation of emergency PPKM.
