Bad News, The Referral Hospital For Handling COVID-19 In Batu City Is Full

JAKARTA - The occupancy rate or Bed Occupancy Ratio (BOR) in four referral hospitals for handling COVID-19 in the Batu City area, East Java, as of July 5, 2021, was recorded as full.

Head of the Batu City Communication and Information Office Ony Ardianto, in Batu City, East Java, Monday said a total of 95 beds in the isolation room, and 12 beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of which have been fully occupied.

"A total of 95 isolation beds and 12 ICU beds, all of which have been used, on July 5, 2021," said Ony as quoted by Antara, Monday, July 5.

He explained that the four referral hospitals for handling COVID-19 in Batu City were fully loaded, namely Karsa Husada General Hospital, Bhayangkara Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and Dr. Etty Asharto Hospital.

When viewed from the full capacity of the referral hospital, or indicators of the availability of health services for the confirmed positive COVID-19 patient, Batu City is in the red zone.

"When viewed from the indicator of the availability of health services for COVID-19 patients, Batu City is in the red zone, or high risk because the BOR beds are full," he said.

With the full condition of the referral hospital for handling COVID-19, he continued, the Batu City Government has coordinated with all referral hospitals to increase the capacity of isolation beds and ICUs.

Then, coordination was also carried out with the East Java Provincial Health Office for the possibility of opening an emergency hospital or field hospital. In addition, it also opened a new shelter to accommodate asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.

"We also ensure case tracking, and close contact checks of confirmed cases," he said.

He explained that the addition of new positive cases of COVID-19 confirmation in Batu City, mostly came from close contacts within the family environment. Currently, Batu City has the status of an orange zone or moderate risk when viewed from 14 indicators of unity against COVID-19.

To date, overall in the region, there have been 1,734 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the total, 1,483 people were reported to have recovered, 151 people were declared dead, and the rest were under treatment.
