TikTok Sells Technology That Makes App Successful

JAKARTA - TikTok as one of the short video applications that are loved by various ages has now become the full attention of various technology companies. In fact, many are eyeing how the application can be successful.

Now, TikTok's Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a secret, because now the technology is available on the open market. It was first reported by The Financial Times, which revealed that ByteDance parent company TikTok secretly launched a division of BytePlus that sells TikTok technology, including recommendation algorithms.

Quoted from Engadget, Monday, July 5, customers can also purchase technologies such as computer vision, real-time effects, and automatic translation, among other features that TikTok has.

BytePlus debuted last June and is based in Singapore, although it also has a presence in Hong Kong and London. The company is currently registering the trademark in the US, but it is still uncertain whether they will establish the new division there.

It seems that BytePlus already has some customers. The American fashion app Goat is already using the BytePlus code, as are Indonesian online shopping company Chilibeli and travel site WeGo.

The move is claimed to help ByteDance compete with Amazon, Microsoft, and other companies selling their technology behind the scenes for business. TikTok and its Chinese partner, Douyin, may be close to a deal to sell their technology to keep the money flowing.
