Elderly Husband And Wife In Garut Found Dead, There Are Hand Marks On The Neck And Poison
JAKARTA - Garut Resort Police, West Java, revealed the case of the death of an elderly husband and wife at his home in Central Cinunuk Village, Wanaraja District, due to persecution and the presence of poison in his body.
"The autopsy results showed that there were hand marks (pressure) on his wife's neck, and her husband had poison in his lungs", said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Garut Police, AKP Dede Sopian, to reporters in Garut, reported by Antara, Sunday, July 4.
He said the police had taken quick action by investigating the crime scene and evacuating the bodies of a married couple, namely Oding Saripin (82), and Iceu Juwita (64) to the hospital for an autopsy on Friday, July 2 night.
The autopsy results, he said, concluded that the female victim was suspected of violence that caused the blockage in the respiratory tract due to gagging, then there was hand pressure on the victim's neck until she died.
Meanwhile, based on the results of the crime scene, her husband was found in a different place, namely in the bed with the autopsy results due to the presence of poison in the victim's lungs.
"The difference in time of death is between two and three days, the wife first, then the husband", he said.

However, Dede said that the suspected poisoning needs to be further proven, namely by conducting toxicology to detect substances that harm the body's organs, causing the victim to die.
This effort, he continued, could only be carried out by the forensic team at the National Police Headquarters because neither Garut nor the West Java Regional Police was available, and the examination was carried out by bringing one of the victim's organs.
"One of the organs must be brought there (Police Headquarters in Jakarta), while the family wants the funeral process to be carried out immediately", he said.
There was a request from the family, he said, so the two were immediately buried, then the police concluded that there were elements of murder and suicide, related to other suspicions, there were no other suspicions because the results of the investigation at the crime scene showed no damaged objects or lost valuables.
He conveyed other information that confirmed the existence of these violent acts, namely the results of statements from several local people that the husband and wife were often noisy.
"So, there is a possibility that the culprit was the husband himself after committing violence against his wife, the possibility that her husband committed suicide by drinking poison", he said.
He added that the Garut Police then closed the case of the death of the elderly husband and wife because the person who could be used as a suspect died and was legally killed.
"For example, if it is suspected that he died, he will die for the sake of the law, and coincidentally the family has accepted it", he said.
