First Day Of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions Is Claimed To Be Smooth And In Order

JAKARTA - The government through the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment claims that the implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) on the first day went smoothly and in order.

A spokesman for the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Jodi Mahardi said that although the Emergency PPKM was running smoothly and in order, the domestic situation regarding the handling of the pandemic had not improved.

"Reports from the field as of this afternoon, the Emergency PPKM went smoothly and in an orderly manner. The Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 15 of 2021 concerning the COVID-19 Emergency PPKM in the Java and Bali Regions", he said at a virtual press conference, Saturday, July 3.

Therefore, Jodi reminded the regional government and regional apparatuses to immediately evaluate themselves if the implementation of the emergency PPKM policy is not in accordance with what is directed in Inmemdagri Number 15 of 2021.

"Remember, this emergency PPKM action is to save lives. The President's (Joko Widodo) order is clear, we are taking more decisive and measured steps", he said.

In addition, Jodi also reminded the public that the Emergency PPKM aims to suppress the transmission of COVID-19. Thus, the government asks the public to comply with regulations as long as this policy is implemented.

"Unusual conditions require extraordinary measures. Transmission must be controlled, so it has been agreed with the local government that monitoring of community activities will be carried out up to the sub-district level", he said.

New Cases of COVID-19 Keep On Setting Record

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. The cumulative total of cases stands at 2.256.851 since the first cases were announced on March 2. Meanwhile, new cases per day reached 27.913 people.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases today increased by 13.282 people, bringing the total to 1.915.147 people recovered. Meanwhile, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 493 people and a total of 60.027 people.

Meanwhile, the province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 9.702 new cases and a total of 570.110 cases. DKI is the province with the most COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Followed by the province of West Java with 5.393 cases and the total cumulative cases reached 397.947.

Then, Central Java had 3.224 new cases, with a total of 262.325 cases. East Java 1.439 cases and a total of 177.257 cases were recorded. Followed by DI Yogyakarta with an increase of 1.358 cases and the total cases reached 63.634.
