The Government Will Tighten WFH And Restaurant Rules In The Revision Of Micro-Scale Community Activity Restrictions

JAKARTA - Head of the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Ganip Warsito said the government would tighten the micro-scale Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) rules that had previously been tightened. This was discussed in a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo this afternoon.

Ganip explained that the government would change a number of rules from the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 14 of 2021 regarding micro-scale PPKM.

"Later, there will be changes to Inmendagri Number 14 of 2021 which we are still guiding today. This restriction is also carried out to control so that COVID-19 does not spread further", Ganip said at a National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) coordination meeting, Monday, June 28.

Ganip leaked a number of rules that will be tightened. Previously, the government issued a 75 percent work from home (WFH) policy only in areas with red zones. Later, the orange zone area will be included in the regulation.

"For example, what will be implemented later is the implementation for the PPKM activities. The WFH and WFO will be applied at 75 percent and 25 percent for red and orange areas", he said.

In addition, the operational activities of the business sector will also be tightened. The operating hours of malls and shopping centers are shortened. Then, restaurants will be prohibited from serving dine-in.

However, Ganip has not yet explained which zones are undergoing this micro-scale PPKM tightening.

"For the economic sector such as malls, it is only operational until 17.00 p.m. Restaurants are only allowed to take away, this is limited to 20.00 p.m.", he said.

"These are some restrictions that will later be applied as a revision of the Inmendagri which is being guided to this day", he continued.

As is known, Minister of Home Affairs Number 14 of 2021 applies an extension of micro-scale PPKM from June 22 to July 5, 2021.

For dine-in activities, the capacity is set at 25 percent of the normal capacity. Then, operating hours are limited to 20.00 p.m. local time.

The implementation of activities in shopping centers, malls, trade centers, operating hours is limited to 20.00 p.m. local time, and the limit of visitor capacity is 25 percent.

Meanwhile, regarding work from home regulations, areas with red zones are required to implement work from home (WFH) by 75 percent which is regulated in turns, and WFO by 25 percent. For areas other than the red zone, restrictions are carried out by applying 50 percent WFH and 50 percent WFO or working in an office.
