Suspect Of Female Mutilation Case In Banjarmasin Charged With Premeditated Murder

JAKARTA - Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Banjarmasin Police have arrested a suspect in a mutilation case with a premeditated murder article.

"It is true, from the results of the examination and reconstruction of the mutilation case, it appears that the suspect had a plan to kill the victim," said Head of West Banjarmasin Police, Police Commissioner Adjutant Faizal, in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 25.

He said, with the stipulation of Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder, the threat of punishment for the suspect is the death penalty or a maximum of 20 years in prison.

"Initially, we stipulated Article 338 of the Criminal Code regarding murder, but during the course of the investigation it was revealed that there was an element of planning, so the article was changed to Article 340," he said.

Currently, he said, the examination document for the suspect in the mutilation case with the initials HP (40) is almost complete, witnesses and suspects are very cooperative when examined. "The suspect HP was very cooperative when examined and he explained step by step the chronology of the murder incident," he said.

The victim's initials RH (40) is a woman, a resident of Sejahtera street Sampurna II lane, Central Banjarmasin. Meanwhile, the murder incident took place on Belitung Street, Keluarga lane, RT007, South Belitung Village, West Banjarmasin District.

"The local police received a resident's report on Wednesday, June 2, at around 06.00 east Indonesia time and immediately went to the scene and it was true that there had been a murder with the victim being mutilated," he said.
