COVID-19 Emergency, Activities Of The House Of Representatives Will Be Restricted Starting Next Week

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said his party would limit activities within the parliament starting next week. Following a number of commission members and leaders who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

"The DPR's activities starting next week will be limited, very limited in attendance following the regulations that run during high spikes", said Dasco, Thursday, June 17.

"It is hoped that with a very small attendance rate, and mostly done virtual, it can anticipate a surge in the Indonesian House of Representatives", he continued.

Dasco explained that today there will be a deliberative body meeting (Bamus) to monitor the development of the COVID-19 situation within the DPR.

"There are several commissions that have implemented a lockdown so that later in the Bamus, a decision will be made on the next steps", he said.

Furthermore, said Dasco, there will also be an increase in health protocols. Each commission will routinely perform PCR on both members and staff and TA.

"Sometimes we don't know when, but for health protection, PCR is always held routinely", he explained.

However, Dasco emphasized that the members of the board will continue to hold meetings in the commission as they should.

"We will see until the COVID-19 spike in the DPR subsides, the important thing is that later we will arrange it in such a way so that the tasks of the members continue to run as they should", said the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party Central Executive Board (DPP).
