Papuan Armed Criminal Group Lekagak Telenggen's Member Gets Arrested At The Airport, Bringing IDR 370 Million To Buy Weapons

JAKARTA - Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri said RM alias NM (26) who was arrested at Mulia Airport, Puncak Jaya Regency was looking for firearms and ammunition for the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Lekagak Telenggen.

"RM has confessed to investigators, including the flow of funds obtained to buy rifles and ammunition", said Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri as quoted by Antara, in Jayapura, Tuesday, June 15.

The Regional Police Chief said that investigators were still investigating the confession of RM, who was arrested on Tuesday, June 15 while about to fly to Timika.

When contacted via his cell phone, the Regional Police Chief said that the arrest of RM occurred when he was about to continue his journey to Timika by plane.

Actually, according to Fakhiri, the report he received stated that RM, who used the Rimbun Airplane, flew from Nabire to Timika, Monday, June 14 with the Nabire-Mulia (Puncak Jaya)-Timika route.

However, when he arrived in Mulia, Monday, June 14, the plane experienced a problem so that on Tuesday, June 15, the flight continued.

"At that time, a member of the Mulia Airport KP3 knew the whereabouts of the person concerned, then reported it, and then the officers arrested RM", said Fakhiri.

When asked about the origin of the money, which is secured with RM, the Papuan Police Chief said that RM got the money from someone who is currently still being investigated by investigators.

"Regarding the flow of funds held by RM, it is still under investigation. Further developments will be informed again", said Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Fakhiri.

RM was secured with evidence in the form of IDR 370 million in cash, three mobile phones, and various other evidence, including a notebook.

Currently, RM is still being held at the Puncak Jaya Police Headquarters in Mulia.
