PBSI: Markis Kido Deserves To Be Called A Badminton Legend
JAKARTA - The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) expresses its deep condolences for the passing of Markis Kido, who deserves to receive the title of legend for his achievements in the field of national sports.
"Today, the big Indonesian badminton family is deeply saddened by the passing of Markis Kido, the badminton hero who has repeatedly made the name of Merah Putih proud on the world stage," said PP PBSI General Chair Agung Firman Sampurna in a written statement from PBSI, reported by Antara, Tuesday, 15 June.
The badminton player who is familiarly called "Uda" deserves to be called a badminton legend with all the achievements that have been made for Indonesia. Therefore, PBSI hopes that the role model for the man who was born on August 11, 1984, will be the inspiration for his successors.

He explained that Kido's achievements include the 2007 world champion in Kuala Lumpur, the 2008 Beijing Olympic gold medal, and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games gold with Hendra Setiawan who is currently still a member of the Cipayung National Training Center.
"Hopefully the role models, fighting spirit, great achievements, and work ethic that have been shown by Markis Kido so far can inspire Indonesian badminton players to follow in the footsteps of the deceased," Agung said.
The deceased left a wife, Richasari Pawestri, and two daughters.
Tonight, the body will be buried at the funeral home Gemak street B149, RT.003/RW.009, Jaka Setia, South Bekasi District, Bekasi City. The funeral process is still waiting for the arrival of his wife from Solo, according to information received by Antara.
