NTB Police Holds Reconstruction of the Case of a Student Who Was Burned in the Loteng Islamic Boarding School

LOMBOK TENGAH - The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda) held a reconstruction of the case of a student burned in one of the pesantren pondok in the Batukliang District of Central Lombok Regency (Loteng).

"Today, investigators from the Central Lombok Police and the NTB Police conducted a reconstruction at the scene (boarding school)," said the Directorate of Women and Children Protection and Anti-Human Trafficking (Ditres PPA-PPO) of the NTB Police, Kombes Ni Made Pujewati, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 29.

In the reconstruction of the case of a burned student who resulted in one victim dying and two victims suffering serious burns, 50 scenes were shown, ranging from their meeting, fuel purchase to a fire in the room and the process of evacuating the victims to the health center.

"This reconstruction is a process of investigation to uncover the facts of the incident," he said.

He said that before this reconstruction was carried out, his party had coordinated with the prosecutor's office and the result was to formulate an additional article in the case.

"The threat of punishment is above 12 years in prison," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Child Protection Agency (LPA) Mataraman Joko Jumadi said the reconstruction went smoothly and according to the results of the investigation that had been carried out by law enforcement officers.

"In the reconstruction, about 50 scenes were staged by both the victim and the suspect," he said.

The reconstruction of the case was conducted in closed session, journalists were not allowed to enter. The reconstruction activity which started at 13.30 Wita and ended at 16.30 Wita involved the victims and the two suspects as well as a number of witnesses who knew about the incident.

"From the results of the reconstruction, the first to come out of the fire room was the student with the initials R, followed by Y, D, S and A," he said.

Previously, the Head of the PPA-PPO Division of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Ni Made Pujewati, said that two suspects in the case had been examined and the examination was part of the follow-up investigation from the Central Lombok Police.

The police named the two as suspects in the incident on December 13, 2025 by applying Article 359 or Article 360 of the Criminal Code together with Article 474 (2) and (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the new Criminal Code.

This article deals with negligence resulting in death and serious injury with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

The police revealed this case based on the follow-up report from the victim in June 2026.

In the incident, two students with the initials D and Al suffered serious burns and one student with the initials S died after undergoing medical treatment.

From the series of investigations, the police have examined at least 20 witnesses, including criminal experts and medical experts.

"Other evidence was obtained from the results of processing the crime scene in a room in the environment of the boarding school," he said.
