Tiong Bahru Bakery, Artisan Bakery from Singapore, Officially Opens in Jakarta

JAKARTA - Tiong Bahru Bakery, an iconic artisan bakery from Singapore known for its layered croissants and homemade sourdough, officially opened its first outlet in Jakarta, located at the Main Lobby of Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading 3, on August 5, 2026. This presence marks a new step for Tiong Bahru Bakery in expanding the experience of typical Singaporean bakeries to Indonesia, while presenting a space that connects food, community, and the daily lives of city dwellers.

Since its inception in 2012, Tiong Bahru Bakery has grown from a simple bakery in the Tiong Bharu area to an artisan bakery network with a number of outlets in various regions of Singapore. Even though it continues to grow, one thing that has never changed is its commitment to the art of making bread, its love for local culture, and its dedication to presenting quality bakeries, delicious coffee and spaces that strengthen community togetherness.

Carrying the spirit of "Keep Bringing the Bahru", Tiong Bahru Bakery comes with a commitment to continue to bring new things without losing the warmth that has become its identity. This spirit is embodied in three interrelated messages. First, Warga Bahru invites the people of Jakarta to become part of a community that finds space to gather, share stories, and enjoy simple moments together.

Second, Experience Bahru presents the experience of enjoying a bakery that is more than just buying bread. The stall is designed as a comfortable space to stop by, work, meet friends, or enjoy your own time in the midst of the city's busy activities. Third, introduce Rasa Bahru, a combination of high-standard French bread techniques to produce crispy layered croissants, artisan sourdough and various dishes that are made fresh every day.

As with all Tiong Bahru Bakery outlets in Singapore, each space is designed to follow the character of the environment where it is located. This philosophy reflects the belief that a bakery is not just a place to enjoy croissants and coffee, but also a space that grows together with its community, namely croissants in hand, community at heart.

"Jakarta is our first city in Indonesia and we chose the Kelapa Gading area because it has a strong community and a destination for many families and food lovers. We hope that Tiong Bahru Bakery can become part of the daily life of the people of Jakarta, not only as a place to enjoy quality bakery, but also as a space that brings people together and presents an experience that always makes them want to come back," said Elvin Rahardja as Director of Tiong Bahru Bakery Indonesia.

To celebrate this opening, Tiong Bahru Bakery has designed a series of sustainable initiatives with the Jakarta community: collaborations with local artists and creators, involvement with the culinary and lifestyle communities around Kelapa Gading, to the exploration of seasonal menus that are born from dialogue with the surrounding residents.

Through its first presence in Indonesia, Tiong Bahru Bakery hopes to become a part of the daily lives of Jakarta residents. Not only as a place to enjoy quality artisan bakeries, but also as a space that brings communities together and continues to bring "bahru" stories every day.
