Menaker Yassierli Reveals Economic Census to Strengthen the Formulation of Employment Policy

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli said that the 2026 Economic Census data is an important foundation in the formulation of more targeted employment policies.

Yassierli assessed that the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census would produce comprehensive data on various aspects of economic activities.

"The 2026 Economic Census will provide a comprehensive picture of the development of the business sector, the distribution of economic activities, the characteristics of business scale, to the use of labor," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 21.

Through these data, continued Yassierli, the government can map the development of employment, labor skills needs, and the need for productivity improvement.

The mapping, he said, also helps identify sectors and regions that have high labor absorption potential and understand changes in the world of work.

Yassierli said that the results of the 2026 Economic Census can also be used to align the implementation of vocational training with industry needs, increase the effectiveness of labor placement, and encourage productivity improvement to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian businesses and labor at the global level.

"This Economic Census is for all of us, for Indonesia, as well as for our younger siblings and our grandchildren. Let's make the industry grow, the workers prosperous. Let's make the 2026 Economic Census a success," said the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Professor.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in successfully implementing the 2026 Economic Census.

He conveyed four main expectations, namely strengthening synergies between BPS, the Ministry of Manpower, and the Ministry of Industry; a joint commitment from associations, managers of Industrial Areas (KI), Special Economic Zones (KEK), and business actors.

"The implementation of the socialization of SE 2026 is massive in the industrial sector; as well as concrete synergy between ministries to support the smooth process of data collection in the field," said Amalia.
