Jung Ilhoon Ex BTOB Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison After Proving Buying IDR 1.6 Billion For Marijuana

JAKARTA - Today, Thursday, June 10, Jung Ilhoon was sentenced to two years in prison for the case of buying and using marijuana.

He was also required to pay a fine of 133 million won for violating the Law on Narcotics Control. Thus the rapper heard the judge's decision at the Seoul Central District Court.

Ilhoon was arrested on December 21, 2020, after his identity was discovered based on someone's testimony.

The court said the defendants communicated via the dark web to keep their actions unknown. “They use complicated methods and make transactions with the cryptocurrency bitcoin”.

Ilhoon bought marijuana worth 130 million won or equivalent to IDR 1.6 billion. He made purchases between 5 July 2016 and 9 January 2019 with seven other defendants.

When he was arrested, Ilhoon was serving his mandatory military service as a public worker since May 2020. Ilhoon confessed to his actions at the first trial in April.

Moments after being arrested, Ilhoon chose to leave the BTOB group that made his name.
