Amazon Boss Jeff Bezos Invites His Brother To Fly Into Space

JAKARTA – One of the richest people in the world and owner of e-commerce Amazon, Jeff Bezos plans to fly into space. He will ride a rocket made by his space aviation company Blue Origin on July 20, 2021.

On the flight, Bezos was accompanied by his younger brother, Mark. The brothers' journey is claimed to be a meaningful journey. The plan was announced by Amazon boss on Monday, June 7.

“To see Earth from space, it changes you. It changes your relationship with the planet, with humanity. It's one Earth", the Amazon founder said in an Instagram post.

“I wanted to do this flight because it's something I've wanted to do my whole life. This is an adventure. This is a big deal for me”.

The plan is that the brothers will use the Blue Origin rocket to fly to the Moon. The rocket will be launched at a launch pad located in West Texas.

Bezos is also rumored to be bringing the winner of the charity auction which will be conducted online. However, until now it is not known with certainty the people who will fly with Bezos other than Mark.

The flight will take only 10 minutes. The rocket will take them to an altitude of 105 kilometers above the Earth's surface. After that, they will be brought down back to Earth.

According to The Washington Post, this flight was an important moment for Amazon's founders. Jeff will resign from Amazon, 15 days before the launch is carried out. Bezos also said he wanted to focus more on developing the rocket company Blue Origin.

The launch of the rocket is said to have tightened competition for rocket flights into space from private companies. On the other hand, Blue Origin's biggest competitor, SpaceX, is also rumored to be flying in September.
