JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is reviewing the elimination of electricity subsidies for household customers of 450 volt-amperes (VA) in 2022. The Director-General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana, said this decision was not final.
"So it's still being discussed. It means, whether the 450 VA household electricity customers are not subsidized, it's still an option. It's still being discussed", he said in a virtual press conference, Friday, June 4.
In the future, Rida said, only customers who are proven to be entitled to receive electricity subsidies will receive according to conditions on the ground. According to Rida, to find out who has the right, his party will use the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).
"What we want to realize is that subsidies are right on target. This is a database. Like it or not, DTKS will definitely be our reference. To distribute subsidies on target, the government has no intention or plan, let alone to reduce subsidies", he explained.
Rida said that the verification of the condition of the 450 VA customer was carried out by PT PLN (Persero). Later, PLN will refer to the data contained in the DTKS.
