BLBI's Obligor's Debt Reaches IDR 110 Trillion, Mahfud MD: The Government Will Collect Everything!
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD ensures that the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Task Force (BLBI) will collect all obligors and debtors without exception. The amount of debt that will be collected has reached hundreds of trillions of rupiah.
"The government will collect all of them, which amount to around IDR 110 trillion. All of them will be collected", Mahfud said in a press conference broadcast on the Kemenkopolhukam RI YouTube, Friday, June 4.
He did not specify who was included in the list of obligors and debtors. However, these names are already in the hands of the BLBI Task Force and will soon be billed.

So he hopes that all BLBI obligors and debtors who will be billed can be cooperative and proactive in the collection process because they will not be able to run away from their responsibilities.
"We hope that all obligors and debtors who will be billed are firstly more cooperative, cooperative. Because it's state money. Second, be proactive if possible", he said.
"Come in person, 'I will solve it this way, here is the item, this is the money", added the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.
Furthermore, Mahfud said anyone who disobeyed by violating civil rules could be brought to criminal law. This can be done because the perpetrators are considered to have harmed the state, enriched themselves, and have violated the law because the debt has been legalized.
"So we know you know. So there is no need to open up to each other, let's just cooperate. We will work, this is for the country and you must also work for the country", he said.
As previously reported, after the KPK issued a Letter of Termination of Case Investigation (SP3) in the alleged corruption of the BLBI Clearance Certificate, the government then formed a Task Force for Handling State Claims for the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Fund or the BLBI Task Force.
This task force was formed through the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2021 concerning the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for BLBI Funds on April 6, 2021.
The establishment of a task force that is under and responsible to the President is aimed at handling, resolving, and restoring state rights originating from BLBI funds effectively and efficiently.
Then, in the form of legal remedies and/or other efforts at home or abroad, both against debtors, obligors, company owners, and their heirs as well as other parties who cooperate with them, as well as recommending policy treatment for the handling of BLBI funds.
"In carrying out its duties, the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for BLBI Funds may involve and/or coordinate with ministries/non-ministerial government agencies, central and regional government agencies, the private sector, as well as other parties deemed necessary", stated the provisions in the regulation on the BLBI Task Force.
