Many Residents Visited To See Mudflow In Cirebon, Officers Installed Barriers
CIREBON - Officers consisting of villages, sub-districts, and the police installed a barrier at the location of the mudflow in Cipanas Village, Cirebon Regency, West Java. The goal is to ensure safety when residents visit.
"We have agreed to install a barrier at the location of the mudflow", said Dukuntang Police Chief, Cirebon Police Iptu Afandi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 3.
Afandi said that the installation of a rope barrier was to prevent residents who were curious about the mudflow from approaching because it was not yet known whether it was safe or not.
According to him, after being exposed by the mass media, many residents from around the location were curious, so they tried to see as closely as possible.
"We don't know whether it's dangerous or not, for that we put a barrier first so that residents don't approach the location", he said.

One resident from Indramayu Regency, Dedi, admitted that he was curious about the appearance of the mudflow, so he tried to take a closer look.
"Just curious, and it smells quite pungent, like the smell of gas mixed with crude oil", he said.
The mudflow, according to information from residents, has occurred for decades and continues to move, but no research has been conducted on whether it is dangerous or not.
