PLN Increases Electricity Reliability In Java Island By Operating 500 Kilovolts Of SUTET And GITET

JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara or PLN has increased the reliability of electricity in Java by operating a 500 kilovolt Extra High Voltage Air Line (SUTET) and a 500 kilovolt Extra High Voltage Substation (GITET).

General Manager of PLN Central Java Development Main Unit Octavianus Duha explained that the two electricity infrastructures function to evacuate power from large-capacity power plants on the island of Java, such as Batang Electric steam power plant (PLTU) with a capacity of 2 x 1.000 megawatts, Tanjung Jati B PLTU units of five, and six with a capacity of 2 x 1.000 megawatts.

"The transmission infrastructure and substations are expected to further increase the reliability and capacity of electricity supply and can spur economic growth, especially in the northern region of Java Island", Octavianus said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 3.

He explained that the two electricity infrastructures are National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Central Java which have the potential to save nearly IDR 20 billion per day.

The 500 kilovolt SUTET stretches along a 2 x 227.81 kilometer circuit from Tanjung Jati B PLTU to Batang GITET 500 kilovolt.

Meanwhile, GITET 500 kilovolts with a capacity of 1.120 megavolt amperes is located in Kenconorejo Village, Writing District, Batang Regency, Central Java.

"This GITET will increase the reliability of the backbone system voltage of 500 kilovolts in Java and increase the electricity supply capacity of the North Java SUTET line, which stretches from GITET Tanjung Jati B to GITET Cibatu Baru Deltamas", said Octavianus.

He further revealed that the operation of the two projects is PLN's dedication and service to the community.

The energy supply in the electricity system in Java, especially Java - Bali, is now increasingly maintained, capacity has increased, and is more reliable to support government programs related to investment development.
